PLEASE HELP! What does a stylist do when they thin your hair?

My hair is really thick, and Im getting to the point where I feel I can't do a thing with it. I need to know what they do and if it will ruin my hair or not.

If your hair is really thick, then thinning it out is the best thing to do. I had thick hair that was all the same length. I finally took the plunge and let my stylist go to town with a razor and thinning shears. Afterword it felt GREAT. My hair felt lighter and healthier, but still had so much style. It felt like carving a statue out of a slab of marble. Cheesy analogy huh? ;p

hey, when i went to get my hair cut, i asked my hair stylist to razor it, instead of using scissors. it really thinned it out and made it a lot more maneagable. it added some really small layers and it looks great! my hair used to be really thick and annoying, i'm so glad i got it razored. i would definitely recommend having it done to your hair!

They get rid of a layer of your hair but becareful though because a lot of stylest don't know how to very good, and one time my friend did it and one side was way thiner then the other side! %26amp; no it won't ruin your hair! you could also try layers with the thinning shears they look really cute and they help thin it out nicely! Thats what the thinner looks like. They just run it through your hair and it makes it thinner. If you have thick hair, it's perfect for you. It will keep its volume but will be easier to style.

It won't ruin your hair... I have seen some stylist thin out in the wrong areas of the head... they most likely will use thinning shears... don't let them do it around the edge of your hair line or directly on top of you head. Ask the person if they understand what you mean when you tell them the areas to stay away from... hope this helps....

they take these funky looking siccors that look like the ones you get to do paper designs and just chop it...it really doesnt do anything to the shape or to the texture...just thins it out a few areas at a time...I love having mine done. It feels like 10 lbs has been taken off afterwards. The razor technique is good too. I like both. but which ever your stylist feels most comfortable with is what should be done.
