My hair is too thin?

my hair is really and i mean really long (its so long i can almost sit on it.) but it really thin. but since its long it covers up the thiness but i want my hair to look thicker and have more volume. i ask my friend cuz she like almost my twim and we're really similar and she told me a trick u can do when u wash ur hair but i want to know how else can u get ur hair to be thicker?
