Do you have any tips, tricks, and products to curl your hair?

Hello! I have very straight, semi-thin hair that doesn't always like to work well with my curling iron. Before I venture out and purchase hot rollers or some supposed magical curling mouse, could some of you all please help me out here? Anything you've tried and worked/didn't work. Products that will help my hair hold curl and what the product does to the texture of my hair (like makes it crunchy or stiff). Please keep in mind that I am only a senior in high school so my budget is low to buy salon products.

Thanks so much!

Scrunch your hair instead.

1. Once you get out of the shower, DO NOT brush out your hair. It will look very bad if you do.

2. Put a mousse in your hair to help it become stiff and scrunched. I would reccomend Herbal Essences products. They work like magic. (you can even use curling shampoo)

3. Scrunch your hair every ten minutes or so for about half an hour to an hour, depending on how much you want your hair to be scrunched.

4. It takes my hair about two hours or so to dry completely. When it's dry it will be stiff but amazing looking for such little work!

Good luck!

I know this is like totally 80s..but did you think of getting a perm? I've been toying with the idea. I go between wavy and straight myself and even not being in HS...I've wasted a lot of money on crapola that doesn't work..but invest the money and get it done right...don't mess up your hair!

My sister tried to make her own concoction actually. She has a boyfriend that is a chemist and he said that the main ingredient in those curling shampoos comes from peanuts. So she tried smearing peanut butter in her hair, wrapped it in saran wrap and slept on it over night. It didn't do anything, but she had the neighbor dogs chasing after her for weeks.

I wouldn't waste money on any of the products the supposidley curl your hair..becuase they don't..i no it's gross but you have to wait a day or two for you hair to get some grease in it, then curl it.. or else theres nothing to keep the curls in place..i'djust get a curling iron and hair spray to keep it in place :]

I have super straight hair as well!!! I use wash-n-curl shampoo, then I use a thickening liquid(Paul Mitchell), blow dry then use a small and medium size curling iron. It also depends on how long your hair is, when mine is shorter it curls better then when it's longer and the weight of the hair can loosen the curl, then I use a regular hair spray while my hair is in the curling iron, and leave it there for awhile. I hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!!!

You need to use a setting lotion. You can use it on wet or dry hair. It will hold your curls for days. I used a setting lotion Thursday night and on Tuesday, I still have curls.

plain velcro rollers..they will add body , volume and curl to your hair....let your hair air dry....once you've set it.

the larger the roller..the less curl you will have.....

the medium to small rollers will add curl to your hair..

try MOP Glisten shampoo %26amp; conditioner ( excellent for all hair types)..for holding a style..try Bumble %26amp; Bumble Styling Wax.

Stay away from curling irons, hot rollers %26amp; blow dryers..they just destroy your hair.

i like big curls so i got a big curling iron 2 of them actually - 2 diff. brands (2in iron) and it only worked on the ends of my hair. but then i got foam rollers that you can leave in overnight and that works gooood. if you dont use some mousse the curls may fall out some so i use tresemme curling mousse after i take it out in the morning (and after i take it out its super curled but it falls out a little later so its perfect). the texture of that mousse isn't too sticky and not that stiff. i have a bunch of sprays and theyre kinda sticky and im not sure if they dont work or im jsut not using them right so i guess i dont recommend that. and if you want to use a curling iron i guess a smaller one might do the trick because my friend used my big one and the same thing that happened to my hair also happened to her hair and she normally uses a 3/4 in one (and that works perfectly for her). so im gonna try the 1in next and hopefully i'll get lucky. a good curling iron is conair. good luck, hope this helps!
